JADE
DERNBACH

Jade, Jada, the “Dirt bag” has always been a Surrey man and one of cricket’s most skilful and gifted entertainers. His career has seen him move through the Surrey age groups into the Academy and into the First team and he has represented England on 56 occasions in white ball cricket during his sixteen year career.

Jade made his First Class debut for Surrey in 2003 against India A aged 17. To date he has played 113 First Class games for the County, taking 311 wickets and all his hard work culminated in leading the Surrey attack to the Championship title in 2018.

Jade made his one day debut for Surrey at his home town club, Guildford in 2005. He was a vital part of the Surrey side that won the C and G Trophy in 2011 and his figures of 4-30 saw him win the Man of the Match Award at the Lord’ Final. Jade has led the Surrey bowling attack to four Lord’s Finals and in 2015 he became only the third man to take a hat trick in a Lord’s Final, finishing with outstanding figures of 6-35against Gloucestershire.

His T20 debut also came in 2005 at the Kia Oval in the Semi Final against Lancashire which included a top three made up of Mal Loye, Stuart Law and Andrew Flintoff. Going into the 2019 season,

His T20 debut also came in 2005 at the Kia Oval in the Semi Final against Lancashire which included a top three made up of Mal Loye, Stuart Law and Andrew Flintoff. Going into the 2019 season, Jade has taken 158 wickets in T20 cricket and is renowned as one of the most skilful bowlers in the shortest format of the game. His experience and leadership skills led to his appointment as Surrey’s T20 captain in 2018.
Jade is regarded as one of the bravest and most skilful bowlers in white ball cricket. His talent was always going to be recognised by England, and he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2011 at the Kia Oval. He has played 24 ODI’s for his country and taken 31 wickets with best figures of 4-45 against Pakistan in 2012. His England debut in T20 cricket also came in 2011 against Sri Lanka at Bristol and he took 4-22 against India that summer. His 34 England appearances have brought him 39 wickets and Jade made the World sit up with his “slower” balls and “death” bowling.

The Big Bash and PSL have called on his talent and skills but it is at Surrey that he has delivered week in and week out. As well as being a fantastic cricketer, Jade is also the most loyal teammate and an integral part of every Surrey dressing room he has been in. As a batsman he has all the shots but may not necessarily always play them in the right order. His pull shot against Chaminda Vaas that sailed out of Wantage Road will last forever.

Flamboyant, skilful, passionate and colourful, Jade Winston Dernbach is an entertainer who brings a certain “Rock Star” quality to his cricket. But behind the perfect hair, tan and tattoos is one of the most talented bowlers of his generation and one of the best men you could ever wish to have on your side.
